I am, undeniably, a city girl. When we first got living off grid, my husband tells me, “I thought you loved nature!!!” This was when I was having a real hard time after being severely sunburnt. The pain lasted for a week and then the healing surpassed the pain. During that week, I couldn’t do as much as I wanted to or usually would and I was in a funk. He would ask me why do you look so sad? I had to tell him my face was literally dried and taut and was just set in this downward expression. We would have arguments every day for the entire week and eventually I sat on the ground and meditated one evening on this whole thing. It dawned it on me, I love nature but not camping!!!
I come from the tiny, bustling, sunny island of Singapore. That is who I am, whether I like it or not! It has shaped me and provided me with everything I have in order to do whatever it is I can today. I love Singapore, but I do not always feel at home there. In the beginning, it was a little disorienting for me living in a different place, but I realized one day that I now have two places to call home.
Writing helps me stay connected with my family back home and it also helps me stay connected with my sense of self. This truly makes me feel happy from within.
I do a few other things aside from writing here. I wrote about healing my psoriasis through natural ways on another blog. I also practise healing in other ways through a combination of experiences I’ve learnt from life. To really understand healing and our connection with our selves, I seek out teachers, books, videos and experiences that really resonate with me and I learnt about discernment. In 2020, I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training. In 2021, I learnt Pure Energy Healing and in 2022, how to work with Tarot cards. I’m currently studying healing for the body through Don Tolman and through the International Academy of Lymphology. I’ve found the work of Dr. Robert Morse eye-opening as well.
There are material things I love that help us too — nature’s essential oils, plants, art, food. It doesn’t feel right to include animals in material things, but I love watching animals too. I’ve worked with children and taught them for over five years and like I said, I don’t love camping but I love nature!
When I first moved here to be with my husband, I started a video blog so my family could stay up to date with what was going on for me. I love that we can be connected through video calls and text messages, but the videos I made felt like a nice treat while I was fifteen hours away from home. Before I moved here, I knew I wanted to create something that was healing in a more spiritual sense and I started adding posts on my Instagram, also called lighthearthome.
My wish is for everything to come together now for the greater good.
Light and love.
